Mark Bodenschatz

Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations
Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA)

 
 
Bodenschatz serves on University-wide committees including: the President’s Task Force for Workplace Environment; Penn State Emergency Management Group; the University Access Committee; Risk Council; Environmental Strategy Team; IT Leadership Council; and the Facilities Fee Advisory Committee.  Previously, Bodenschatz served on the Ethics and Conflicts of Interest Committee and the Strategic Security Planning Group.  
 
A licensed professional engineer, Bodenschatz holds Bachelor (1987) and Master (1997) degrees from Penn State in Architectural Engineering.  He is a member of Tau Beta Pi, National Engineering Honor Society; Stadium Managers Association; and International Association of Assembly Managers.
 
In addition to his duties at Penn State, Bodenschatz is a lead trainer with the National Center for Spectator Sport Safety and Security (NCS4) at the University of Southern Mississippi, offering Event Risk Management Workshops for NCAA Division I, II, and III colleges and universities across the country in fulfillment of a grant from the Department of Homeland Security and Sport and Special Event Evacuation training. He also teaches Sport and Special Event Incident Management for Texas Engineering Extension Services (TEEX) at the Texas A&M University.
 
Bodenschatz returned to Penn State in 1990, working at the Office of Physical Plant before he took his current position in ICA. In more than 16 years at OPP, he served in a variety of roles including Design Engineer, Project Manager, Manager of Design Services, Director of Commonwealth Services, and Director of Design and Construction.
