NCS4 International Professional Development

The National Center for Spectator Sport Safety and Security (NCS4) has developed an International Professional Development Program which is offered on a contract basis to agencies responsible for organizing and controlling sport events. The Purpose of this course is to develop and/or enhance the capabilities for effective sport event operations, safety, and security management. The content of the Program will focus on two main areas.

1. Security Management for Sport and Special Events

2. Sport Facility Operations Management

The Course curriculum is based upon STANDARDS derived from applied research and the experience of sport event operations coordinators and emergency responders. NCS4, over the past five years, has identified “best practices”, then specialized in implementing risk assessments, designing and delivering training and exercises related to sport event operations, safety, and security.

Instructional methods are based upon strategies for optimizing adult learning. Highly experienced and competent instructors will combine short lectures with small group interaction utilizing case study/scenario analysis to build and improve knowledge and capabilities. The intent is to enhance, through simulated application, the capability for applying “correct” practices when planning, organizing operations, and protecting the assets associated with sport events.

The Course requires five days (40 hours) of on-site instruction. The Host Agency will select and assign attendees for the Course. Attendees will be required to attend all sessions, participate in learning activities – including a CAPSTONE table top exercise, and successfully complete a comprehensive exam( at the 70% or better level).

The VISION of the NCS4 International Program, based upon “GLOBAL BEST PRACTICES and STANDARDS”, is that it becomes recognized as the benchmark for continuous improvement and consistency of sport event operations and safety/security management.
